Michael is a writer-producer working in film and television. Through his company, A Major Production, he recently produced Gabe Klinger’s Isabel starring Marina Person, Caio Horowicz, and John Ortiz, which premiered at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival. He previously co-produced Carson Lund’s Eephus, which premiered in Directors’ Fortnight at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, won Best First Film at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, and was named to the New York Times’ Best Movies of 2025 list. He also sold the series The Talented Ribkins, based on the book by by Ladee Hubbard. to Disney in 2022, and he wrote and produced Torn starring John Heard, Faran Tahir, Mahnoor Baloch, and Dendrie Taylor, which premiered at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2013, where it won Best Feature Film. Both Eephus and Torn have a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Michael is currently producing Only Apparently Real, which he wrote based on the true story of the 1971 break-in at Philip K. Dick’s house. The film stars Paul Giamatti as Phil opposite Natasha Lyonne, Cooper Hoffman, and Bill Hader, with Alex Buono directing. He is also adapting Carlton Mellick III’s novella “Stacking Doll” for the screen.
Beyond film and television, Michael served on the Board of Trustees of the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and co-founded and served as the Chief Creative Officer of Aftershock Comics, which won the Diamond Gem Award for New Publisher of the Year. Prior to that, he was the Chief Privacy Officer at Facebook and an early employee at eBay.
