Michael is an award-winning screenwriter and producer, and Facebook’s former Chief Privacy Officer.

Michael writes and produces elevated genre and prestige projects for film and television. Michael is currently producing his award winning screenplay Only Apparently Real based on the true story of a break-in at Philip K. Dick’s house in 1971. Paul Giamatti is starring as Phil opposite Natasha Lyonne, with Alexander Buono directing. Michael is also serving as an executive producer on both the Disney+ series The Talented Ribkins and Netflix’s Old Man’s War. And he is directing Triceratops Summer, a time travel romantic comedy which he wrote based on the short story by Michael Swanwick.

Michael and his company, A Major Production, recently co-produced Carson Lund’s comedy drama Eephus. Eephus is premiering in the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival this May, where it was also nominated for the prestigious Caméra d'Or award. Michael also wrote and produced Torn, starring Emmy-nominee John Heard, Faran Tahir, Mahnoor Baloch, and Dendrie Taylor. Torn received a theatrical release after it won the award for Best Feature Film at the Oscar-qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival, and was subsequently acquired by Amazon.

In addition to working in film and television, Michael served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, and co-founded and served as the Chief Creative Officer of Aftershock Comics, which won the New Publisher of the Year Diamond Gem Award after its inaugural year. Prior to that, Michael was an early employee at both Facebook (where he was the Chief Privacy Officer) and eBay. Michael started his legal career as an entertainment and media attorney after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He studied literature and drama at Yeshiva University. Michael is represented by UTA.
